Detoxification

Detoxification is a term used to specify the body's natural process of removing or altering metabolic wastes so the body can perform its life processes better and with the least amount of disruptions.  So one can say that detoxification is the body's natural process to "recycle".  This process is necessary for survival.

One of the ways the body stores toxins, if it feels it has too much of it and cannot properly dispose of them, is by putting them in the fat cells as well as the collagen.  For example, as Jack Tips, DC states:
"if the body's chief detoxification organ - the liver - does not have enough nutrients (methyl molecules, sulfur-bearing amino acids, antioxidants and enzymes) available, then toxins may be stored in the adipose (fat) cells pending future ability to complete the task"
This fat storage is the reason why the fat cells enlarge and water infiltrates the surrounding collagen.  This is the body's way to protect itself from the inflammation associated with the stored toxins.

So what causes the inflammation? It's "toxins" mainly.  Detoxification is basically a nutritional issue.  If your body has the nutrients it needs, it will use them to detoxify itself.  That is why nutritional supplements such as antioxidants are a solution to the healthcare dilemma.  Supplements definitely help counter the onslaught of cellular damage caused by living in today's century.
