Effective Drug-Free Treatments for Fibromyalgia
Let us start off with saying what Fibromyalgia is. When a person has a significant amount of pain in various areas of their body, such as their hips, or collar bones, their elbows and knees, and other reasons are excluded as cause, it is then usually determined to be fibromyalgia. The pain is typically present on both sides of the body since it tends to be symmetrical. Usually it is indicated as fibromyalgia when, while pressing on those affected areas on both sides of the body, the person experiences a lot of pain.
So once you have been diagnosed with having fibromyalgia, what are some of your treatment options besides the conventional drug therapy?
One of the things you should do is make sure that you get the proper sleep. This should be one of the first things to focus on. Proper sleep contributes to positive health results and lack of it leads to negative health consequences.
Regular exercise also plays an important role in the treatment. Although it may seem like that is the last thing to do since a person is in pain, research shows that a combination of aerobic exercise and strength training actually improves the symptoms of fibromyalgia patients.
Chiropractic Care is another drug-free treatment which has great results with fibromyalgia patients. So it's important that you have a good chiropractor you can go to and get the relief you need.
Acupuncture also shows excellent results with fibromyalgia. Studies found that acupuncture provides pain relief from fibromyalgia for up to 16 weeks.
So if you know of someone who is suffering from fibromyalgia, have them start applying these techniques. This will help them relieve some of the symptoms and they will most likely not have to rely on conventional drug therapy.
