What is a Herniated disc?

A herniated disc is a common spine condition that is caused when an inter-vertebral disc bulges or even ruptures, potentially pressing on a spinal nerve causing pain or other sharp symptoms.
A herniated disc can happen anywhere in the spine—from way up in your neck, to all the way down to your lower back. Understand that not everyone that has a herniated disc will suffer from pain or any other symptom. The pain comes from the disk pressing on or against a spinal nerve.
There are many more herniated disc treatment options than surgery. Consulting and meeting with your Dr. is the first step to alleviating your spinal pain, so don't wait to long to visit your Dr. They may be able to help you before things get to serious.

If you notice:
  • Your pain is getting worse.
  • The pain is disabling.
  • You are having leg or arm pain, weakness, numbness, or tingling.
  • Loss of control of your bowel or bladder movements.
You need to schedule an appointment with your Dr. as soon as possible before things get worse.
