Getting School Kids Off Drugs

Middletown, NY, March 19, 2013 - Dolson Avenue Medical promotes its anti-drug campaign during this year’s Y2Kids event. Dr. Jay Spina, along with his staff distributed over 2000 anti-drug booklets, registered 30 teachers to receive educational kits for their schools, and played a series of videos showing the truths and myths about drugs and its harmful effects not only to the individual but to society as well.

“Drug abuse has been a part of our culture since the middle of the last century and the youth of today are exposed earlier than ever to drug addiction,” Dr. Spina said. “Our youth is being made to believe that drugs are the solution to all their problems and a means to achieve happiness. It is our job to take these false hopes out of their minds and to educate them about the real effects of drugs,” he added, “and what better time to do this than during an event where we can reach out to thousands of kids and their schools”.

Y2Kids is an annual event featuring career exploration activities geared toward middle school kids, their parents and teachers. Every year, Dolson Avenue Medical has been sharing its experience in providing effective pain relief through the use of hands-on techniques, which in many cases are better alternatives to using drugs.
